Yes, it's crazy, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my 3 Saabs. I bought my midnight blue '97 9000 Aero last spring from a Colorado professor. He had redone the front leather seats so the car looked fantastic on the inside. I conquered all the mechanicals, suspension, SAS sway bars, shift linkage, refurbed the Aero wheels, and now the car drives like a brand new car.

While it was completely rust free, the paint was badly worn from CO salt and sand...the lower rockers were almost white from years of paint chipping, there was a poorly touched up scratch on one door, and paint fade on all the bumper/spoiler pieces. The hood was also starting to get spider cracks.

While it's not great for return on investment, that's not what I'm after. I want that grin on my face from having a perfect older Saab.

Should be three or four weeks from now and will post pics.

Question for folks...what are people's feelings on the clear Euro lights versus the US amber ones? The Euro ones don't have the side market that lights up in reverse, correct? And e-codes....I've seen a set of these (Hella e-codes) in my C900, which are great improvement. I do find the US Spec 9000 headlights to be very good, especially the high beams (which was a nice surprise). Are the e-codes that much better? I have also put e-codes in my '91 Alfa 164 S (major improvement) and my now (sadly) sold '91 Peugeot 405 Mi16 (the US spec plastic lights were dangerously weak). I assume most 9000 e-codes available now are aftermarket, DJ Auto/Depot Taiwanese made units? I found replacement foglight units and one is Valeo (drivers side), the other (passenger side) is Depot (Taiwan), but they both look to be virtually identical. I put 3M film on both lenses to keep them chip free.

Cheers,
Paul H. - true Saaboholic
