TCS reset, still no start

On my '93 Aero, I replaced the battery, and left it unhooked overnight and the TCS light and CEL flashes reset. Still no start. Once I try to start with my foot off the gas, no start. Then I try with the pedal to the floor. It starts right up, and I let off, and it dies. I am afraid to rev a cold engine that hard for very long. Any suggestions? Plugs are a few months old, and the fuel pump makes a quiet buzzing noise.
Thanks in advance,
Earl
