I kind of wonder whether replacing a wheel bearing unless it is known to be failing makes sense. I've never tackled it but it doesn't fall into the class of jobs I'd call very easy. Get the whine figured out before throwing parts at it.

On your CV joints, I'd say with Rob that a replacement axle is going to be far easier and cheaper. Whining CV joints isn't something I'm aware of, popping on turns is usual first sign of failure. 20,000 miles is a long time to drive on torn boots, but if yours aren't popping on hard turns yet, you might get away with relubing and new boots, doing as Rob says and pulling inner tripod and boot off first and sliding boot on from that end. You'd probably need extra lube, as boot kit, if it comes with grease, only has enough for one end of axle.
