Thanks Toddm.
Quite a few times I have done exactly this in my other cars.
Unfortunately time was not on my side this year and dashtop/instrument work is definitely NOT a driveway job for winter in Vermont !!!
I was hoping someone knowledgeable here would have a method for simply stopping the light sensing=> like maybe applying a certain current at a spot to 'fool' it into a fully dormant state whenever the car is running; or disconnecting some leads someplace.
(And maybe that can yet happen...I hope ?!?!)
When the snow & ice has receeded and the days are over freezing I shall have my way with these things as I have a replacement dashtop which I got from someone here, and I shall also get LEDs to replace all the buried bulbs in there too, since they've become affordable...
The high-mount brake lights and plate lights are especially prone to moisture problems in my car too, so they are getting overhauled as well.
Thanks, and Best Wishes.
