i replaced the voltage regulator on a 94 aero with what I had lying around, I believe a newer style from the 95-98 enclosed-fan style alternator.
The newer one does not have a small green capacitor on it like the one I removed. It seems to charge the battery, initally it was at 14.5 volts with a near dead battery, and after running a while it settled out at 13.9 volts. Dips to 13.6 with all electric accessories on (seat heater, rear defog, headlights, cabin fan, and radiator fan.)
Has anyone had a problem with anything like this?
The older style are still around 30 bucks but the newer style are not closer to $80!!!! Makes a case for soldering on replacement brushes.
