Happened to my 97cs... nasty problem. Only way to remove cylinder is put key in, turn to on or run, push a small diameter rod thru hole alongside and under cyl and pull out cyl. Of course doesn't help if key won't turn :-((. Try some triflow lube and wiggle key with pliers, that's what the locksmith did, as well as a bit of picking.
