Hey Mike,
You probably saw some posts by me. I had the same issue for about three years, before I decided to fix it. Some people suggest swapping out the climate control unit in the dash, since it is easy to pop out (the thing you select temperature and fan settings on). The system is really pretty simple for selecting vents. There is a servo motor that turns a plastic arm attached to a drum. When the drum is rotated, the air is sent to different vents. I used to have a youtube video but I think I deleted it. In my case, the shaft of the servo motor has slid outwards, causing the gear to not engage the gearbox of the servo. I put the motor in a vise and pretty it back in. Problem solved.
The plastic arm could be broken also. Also, you could have foam blocking the rotation of the drum.
Take the dashboard top off and you will see the two servos sitting right behind the middle vents. You can start the car and change the vent settings, and see if the arm is moving. If its not moving, something is wrong in the servo gearbox. Either way, once you get the dashboard top off, the problem will be obvious pretty quickly.
