Car: '90, B202
Symptom: 1) No start, no tach bounce 2) Headlights will come on for 20 sec - several minutes then extinguish with the ignition off or on and the car running.
3) No crank, dead- ignition off/ on will crank and start.
I'm suspect that the ignition sw needs replaced, especially for #3. But, is it possible that a faulty switch could also cause #2? I suspected the lamp sw until this A.M. when I had pulled the headlamp switch and the headlights came on for about 10 seconds then extinguished. So, that ruled out the HL switch.
#3 is a mystery. The CPS ground wire got rather mangled when the tensioner pulley exploded. Pulled the CPS and repaired the wire and about 3 days later the car had a no start just like the cps was dead again. So, I figured that my repair was inadequate and pulled the CPS again this A.M. but the repair ohmed ok altho the signal wire appears to have gotten pinched upon re-installation- but the wire insulation was intact and the conductor ohmed ok. So, I'm rather stumped. Don't know if to dig deeper and look at the Jetronic oscillator crystal like you diagnosed in a previous post.
All ideas are more that welcome.
