One of the connections was pretty crispy (burnt) when the motor was replaced. If you can't find the proper new connector, you could just cut out the connector and butt splice the affected wires. A burnt connector is very high resistance.
Of course, none of this explains the issue you had with right-hand turns, typically caused by water.
