CV boot size

Received new inner CV joint boots, that are 1/4 to 1/2" smaller in diameter than the old ones from the car, a 97 CS auto. The whole boot looks smaller, in diameter and shorter, like it is for the non-turbo cars. Do these things swell that much? It looks like it would take a lot of stretching to get on the driver. Box says it is a 8993701 which is the right part number, but is it the right part? Anybody have issues or comments about this?
