How to test the oil pressure light system

1. (multimeter required) Check that you have 12 volts at the wire that connects to the oil pressure sender with the ignition in the on position. If so, then the electrical circuit is okay.

2. Ground the wire that connects to the oil pressure sender and turn the ignition to the on position. The oil can light in the pictogram should turn on. If not, then the bulb is bad.

3. If you have 12 volts at the sender wire and the oil can light turns on when the wire is grounded, then the sender is bad. This is a failure-prone part that is cheap to replace.
