are smooth as glass in comparison to almost any street here. No wonder you have little experience with these.

I'm not sure that these are intended as "sacrificial", as the cast aluminum tends to rot over time, subject to salt baths - that's why Ben thought that they are made from "something that looks like concrete". I understand that someone in the UK has made a more durable version of this part out of a ferrous metal; I didn't buy them the first time I replaced the parts as I thought it's a once per car lifetime event, clearly it is not - here!
