GOOD POINT. you can make a jumper and put in the fuse box there in the engine compartment to force the fan to run on the low speed. take the low speed relay out and look at the picture on it, you will be able to do it. use some HEAVY gauge wire to make it.
I forgot about this happening to one of my cars. there is a junction in the wire from the thermostat to the relay and it corroded. it's right dead center under the radiator. it's shrink wrapped with two wires into one, but when I cut the shrink wrap they all fell apart. There is a plastic guide that snaps on under the radiator that is the pathway from one side to the other that you need to pull off to see the wire. I trouble shot it by jumpering completely around it and proved that it worked.
I ran with the jumper in the fuse box off and on until I figured out the real issue.
