You mean the driver's side? It's pressed into the transmission cover plate. I'm not sure if you can get it out of the cover plate in situ (might be possible with a puller) but you should be able to unbolt the cover plate and remove the whole assembly pretty easily (this is for a manual at least, never seen an automatic). Be careful to save the spacers that will come out as they set a pre-load in the transmission. If you got all the bolts out maybe try tapping the cover plate with a mallet to loosen the seal. It should come out eventually. I hate the stupid pressed in inner driver on these cars!
