I know what you're referring too and a good set of subframe connectors do make a nice improvement on a unibody muscle car. Most people putting down big power have them to keep the body from twisting up as much.
Honestly, I don't think it's needed in a 9k, but Genuine Saab makes a couple of subframe brace options for the OG9-3 which is pretty floppy and with the chassis designed by Opel was never really intended to have much power. They're surprisingly cheap, easy to install, and apparently make a big difference.
I have seen front and rear shock tower braces for the 9k. I think your best bet (if you don't mind giving up some of the versatility of a hatch) would be to try a rear shock tower brace. After all, most cars have a big piece of metal connecting the shock towers so there must be something to it, and I do feel a little more stiffness back there would help handling on rougher roads.
