I had Walter Wong do the clutch on my '96 when the car was with my daughter out in LA 2 years ago. But once he got in there we realized it also needed lower engine mounts, tranny mount, control arm bushings, shift linkage, and a few other minor things fixed. Don't remember what I paid and I'm not at home this week to dig out the ROs for the job. The minor parts aren't all that pricey, but the labor adds up. But if you're in there it does make sense to do the extra stuff, and it makes a big difference in how the car feels. It was done at 183K and made the car felt better than it did when I got it at 90K.

I did buy all the parts and ship them to him, and used all OEM pieces for the clutch (at his recommendation), so it was more $$ than getting aftermarket parts. Clutch, main seal, slave and master cylinders, hoses, etc. All is well 17K later.

From what I've seen here, if you're paying for the job $1000 to $1500 isn't out of line. It's a fair bit of labor. A major DIY as you do need to pull the tranny.
