A/C problems -need suggestions or ideas

Haven't been around for a while since I haven't had any problems. BUT, one surfaced last year. A/C failure on our '97 9K Aero. 105K Have the best local A/C tech working on it. So far we have replaced the compressor,($$), the accumulator, the thingie under the aquarium.
System holds pressures and works for about 5-10 miles when it's really HOT outside like last summer. Then it shuts down and blows ambient temp air. Kinda like the kid who is never sick once you get them to the Dr.s office.
We only put about 500 miles on the car last summer because of the heat and this problem. With the cost of Haggerty insurance, registration and the A/C parts, it made for a quite expensive cost per mile. I'd like to get working on this sooner than later this year and have an appointment with the tech for next Friday to continue to sort out.
Any suggestions appreciated.
