My wife's 97 CSE is acting up again. She states that the SID and the information display at the bottom of the instrument cluster go "out" momentarily when she's driving and will later come back on. The car continues to run and other things seem to stay working. It sounds to me like it could be a power supply going south but I don't know if they are powered from the same source. I know there is a circuit card under the dash cover that supplies the information display. The gas gauge and temp gauge have not been reading correctly for quite some time but I seem to have 12 VDC at the gas tank sender whenever I have checked it. I have also wiggled that card under the dash before but it didn't make a difference. Has anyone else seen this problem?
On a separate note, it wouldn't restart for her after dropping off my son at a friends house. She said it would crank but not start. I told her I couldn't fix it for her from 60 miles away but she could call AAA and have it drug home if it wouldn't go. It was only a few miles. I suggested waiting a few minutes and trying it again. It started and she drove it home with no other apparent problems. I wonder if something is breaking down due to heat. I have several spare DI cassettes I can try to see if it makes a difference.
