freeing stuck hood Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Fri, 19 Jul 2013 13:40:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is why I avoid taking my car anywhere to be worked on. I dropped it off last night, and got a call today saying they can't get the hood open. I went over there to see what was up. I could not get it open even with the grille off and releasing the latch mechanism manually. Then I noticed that the tapered stem on the hood was rammed way down and wedged into the hole. Upon mentioning this to the mechanic, he said they had the hood pop open on a test drive, and had to close it using whatever means necessary (for safety's sake). So instead of releasing the stuck latch using the release inside the car, they just kept pushing until it was stuck, possibly never to come off again. They took no responsibility for this, and now it's up to me to figure out how to get it off. Short of cutting the hood, I'm at a loss. Anyone have a better idea?
