Sounds like fun Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Wed, 21 Aug 2013 16:29:42 In Reply to: imagine, Ken Fisher, Wed, 21 Aug 2013 11:01:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I won't have time for a couple of days to work on it, should be interesting. I also gave some thought to using ordinary PCV hose and plumbing around it but figured they put that line in there for a reason. (Still, nearly $60 for a PCV hose that still needs surgery to install the cooling line is not my idea of a good time. Guess I should just be thankful that such an oddball part is available at all.)
NJ doesn't check for stuff like RTV sealer on PCV hoses. Basically on OBD-II cars they just check the computer for emission system faults. On older cars they might do a cursory look under the hood to see that everything looks in place and sniff the tailpipe at I think 2500 RPM.
My concern with using RTV to attach the PCV is that I would not want a chunk of it or anything else to get pulled into the turbocharger if some came loose. The ABS tubing idea sounds pretty good, though I'll see if I can find a good used replacement part.
