Both of mine are out and I'm tired of futzing with them to clean up connections to keep them working. The ground with the clip is an old Bosch design which dates to the '70s --and it wasn't any better then! I'm gonna bring in aftermarket parts.
Someone posted either here or on the Saab 9000 FB page about using the Hella Micro DF lights in the same mounts, with the little Hellas mounted behind the stock glass. Looks cool, but I don't know how well it works in the real world. I can see doing it if the old glass could be removed, but at least on my 208K mile car, the glass lenses are sufficiently pitted that this probably wouldn't work so well.
I do like having fogs on a car--have had them on most of my cars for 40 years-- so am deciding which Hellas to get and will probably mount them externally instead of in the air dam until I can figure out a way to integrate them so it looks right in the air dam.
Back when we had a Ford Exploder, I replaced the the useless factory fogs with some low-profile Hellas and they were excellent--good penetration and spread.
