It looks pretty good from the outside. I think that would make the alt voltage go high, wouldn't it? Mine went low and the charging system warning light came on. The battery is charging fine except when the alternator output stops completely. When I looked at the brushes, one was worn more than the other. I was surprised they can't wear until they come out of the holder. There is some sort of stop that prevents that. I was more used to the type that you had to put a wire through the holder, insert the VR, then remove the wire to allow the brushes to spring out. That old style can run until the brush is completely gone.
