I can't speak to the SRS light since I don't have an airbag car but the 9v battery does work. Make sure any potential power draws (like the dome light, etc.) are off and give car a minute to stop major power losses (it draws some current for a bit even after everything is shut off and closed up). Some alligator clips on the battery terminals work fine if your quick and careful. Don't keep both the battery and the 9v hooked up longer the necessary as I imagine there's a risk of 'overcharging' the 9v.
