'91 9kT. I've never had this trouble with a rebuilt brake caliper before, but prior to installation, I noticed that I could advance the piston by turning the internal Allen bolt (it's not really a bolt) at the back of the caliper, but it would not withdraw. I removed the piston, and there was an internal type snap ring hanging loose on the long bolt on which the piston is mounted. Where does this snap ring go? At the bottom of the cylinder? If so, I don't think I have snap ring pliers long and skinny enough. I can't see any kind of ridge on the piston assembly itself.
Interestingly, the long bolt on which the piston mounts turns both ways when I turn the internal Allen bolt. I can't figure out why the piston would not withdraw, though. What does the snap ring have to do with it? Thanks.
