AC Clutch issue - fused to flywheel?

So I had the typical worn AC clutch issue and removed the remaining shim. I made the adjustment before a 2hr trip and the AC was freezing cold, but it wouldn't turn off. So I thought maybe I needed to put the shim back on.
Before the end of the trip, something must have happened because the entire center section of the AC clutch (that bolts to the compressor flywheel) was missing. It seems like even though the center section is missing, the clutch portion is still stuck in place.
Anything wrong with massaging it off with a chisel? Do I need to replace the AC flywheel too?
