I agree that with pressure bleeders you may as well not fill them up with fluid. It's not necessary and is a messier clean up. On the downside you have to keep an eye on the reservoir and top up the fluid a couple of times if you're flushing.

I actually used to use a bike inner tube for this. I'd cut it and tie off the loose end, stretch the open end over the reservoir opening and secure it with a big o-ring, and pump up the tube with a bike pump. It actually works great, though it does look a little odd.

Sounds like you did everything right, congrats on a job well done.
