Broken Shift Couple Taper Pin

Happy New Year fellow Saabers...I've been the owner of a beautiful 96 LeMans Blue 9000 'Super' CS since it had only 6 miles on it, today it has a little over 120K. I did convert it to FPT in 2007. I've performed all the maint. on it since the warranty expired. Recently I replaced a cracked fuel tank and fuel pump (since the tank was already out). However, trying to replace the shift coupler has really gotten to me, extremely frustrating. I've been doing makeshift repair on a sloppy shifter for a few years and I now want to do a 'permanent' fix, since shifting gears has gotten from bad to worst. Problem is I cannot get the tapered pin out, it's broken off @ the nut end and will not budge. I've tried all past suggestions except removal of tranny which I really don't want to do. I'd be also be replacing all engine mounts along with the shift ball & socket etc.
Any other advise out there on getting the tapered pin out? I'd deeply appreciate them.
