The car is a 96 9000CS, converted to fpt about a year ago; automatic, 97k miles.
It blew the upper radiator hose and lost just about all the coolant 2 hours before I flew away for a vacation. In haste, I reattached the hose, added coolants and left the car to be driven by a relative, my error. It held for 2 days, but start losing coolant on the third day - the radiator is now leaking.
Here are the findings:
1. Thermostat is behaving normal.
2. Cooling fan does not turn on; must have been the cause of the overheating in the first place.
3. Cooling fan fuses #2,3,4 are all fine.
4. Coolant, oil and ATF are all clean, no fluid cross-exchanges.
Plan to replace the radiator and the coolant temperature sensor - the one controls the fan operation.
Questions:
1. Are there more testing's I should do before R&R the above?
2. What else should I replace along with those R&R's?
3. Where is this sensor located? I understand that it is close to the transmission, but could not find anything there.
4. Called a supplier, who informed me that the sensor without wires is the one. Please confirm.
Thanks in advance.
