If the alarm wasn't faulty before changing the battery, it's probably just in a funky state. Try locking the car and then turning the key counter clockwise three times quickly (unlock direction) in the lock on the drivers door, which should reset the alarm.
This works something like wearing ruby slippers, clicking your heels together three times and saying "there's no place like home".
