Since my 97 Aero was totaled I have been looking for a replacement car. I am buying the carcass back from the insurance company. I still have my 97 CSE automatic and my Aero is the same color so I will move the newer mint front fenders over to the CSE. I have been considering moving the Aero interior over also. I have been looking on craigslist at other 9000's and I am wondering what the difference is between the Aero engine and a CS/CSE engine package. I'm thinking the only difference is the ECU and turbo/exhaust manifold. Are there other parts that are Aero-specific? My Aero was a 5-speed so the "new" car would need to be a 5-speed, too. If I find a suitable late model (96/97/98) 9000 CS or CSE can I swap my stage 1 ECU and turbo parts over to get the Aero zip?
The other question I have is the differences between the 97 automatic engine and the 5-speed engine. Can I just pull the flywheel off the 5-speed engine, install the flex plate for the automatic and drop it in? My CSE automatic engine has low compression in holes 2 & 3 but the Aero 5-speed engine is in better condition, even though it has more miles on it.
Thanks guys.
