Having done as Simon S advises you can of course watch the cable to see if it works the flap when a friend plays with the heater controls, or if the arm has broken - there used to be a repair kit for the arm. Also the arm can come loose from the servo, or I'm told the servo gears can fail
The ACC control unit just pulls out (be careful not to break the plastic rim as you lever it out, step by step). As an alternative you could pull out the radio then get a hand in behind. No idea if this will help you access the cable though. Lots of interesting stuff behind the dash including the boost gauge hose if you ever need to tap into that.
I don't think a duff cabin air sensor (little fan) will show up as a fault code. Often they sort of twitch rather than rotating so you will need your glasses and flashlight! Cleaning off the accumulated dust is a good start
Did you try running the diagnostic again to see if the faults still showed up?
