If it is a '97 then it doesn't have TCS according to an old thread linked below. Looking under the hood you should see a throttle that is operated directly by a cable from the gas pedal. On my '96 and probably on later models the throttle body cam (the part that is rotated by the throttle cable) is made of plastic and can break. It's a cheap part, but a tow may be needed depending on where the car is when it breaks.
