Glad the problem is resolved! It is normal for the indicator to turn on at startup, so you know that the idiot lights are working. On my car when all is well the indicator turns off the first time I apply the brakes.
The brake light assemblies are easily broken. On one side I have a zip tie repair and a wire I added when one socket's ground connection was going bad.
My elevated light is so frail that the bulb holders are the only things holding the two copper strips.
Yet it all works well enough to make the rear filament check happy.
