The longest run on our Saab's is a '97 Aero we bought used at approx 20k mi for $20k when it was about three years old. I bought it from a fellow Saab owner, who, by coincidence, had bought our very nice silver '86 5 speed 9000T from us in a previous year. I had just a couple too many cars, sold it to him at a great price ... and saw his ad, probably on Saabnet, a few years later when he was geting ready to move to North Carolina.
The blue Aero was my daily driver for years, going back and forth 180 miles to Chicago O'Hare Airport [I'm a pilot for American airlines]. As the toll road traffic grew worse, the 5 speed became a drag ... so my wife began racking up the miles for our five kids' various swim teams/meets/etc. She's easy on the clutch, as the original still had plenty of material on the plate when the slave cylinder went at 194,000 mi.
My wife graduated to a '08 9-5 eighteen months ago and our daughters all learned to drive stick on the older Aero. It's now my youngest daughter's daily driver, for school, sports, social ... and she's quite proud of how smoothly she can shift the five speed.
When our other kids are home from college, all the Saabs get a good workout, especially in the summer months. Now's the time for some off season mx projects, such as my heater core/blower motor last week on the '98 CSE.
Great cars. The 9000 will always be one of my favorite Saabs/cars in general. It does everything well & is fairly easy to maintain.
Sincerely,
