Referencing Anders' 84-97 headbolts post http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9000/index.html?bID=302179.
For my 1992 2.3L turbo with original bolts 60Nm,80 Nm,+90 degrees applies, according to the post. However, I see other, much lower numbers from other forum entries. Don't understand the disparity.
Therefore, I'm curious as to what the torque should be after the 90-degree final tightening. Haven't been able to find that figure. One reason I ask is that prior to the final tightening I had set my Hazet wrench to 120 Nm out of curiosity, and it clicked at 45 or so degrees. Did that for all ten bolts, as it "felt about right" at that point from recollection of a previous job about 18 years ago. However, I was only 60 then, and much stronger. I thought I'd check the Hazet just in case. My wrench testing procedure yielded a consistent 117 Nm on the 120 Nm setting, so the wrench is likely ok. Would anyone have a torque figure for the 90-degree stage or a link thereto? Don't want to bug Anders unless I really need to.
