OBD...ABS...SRS...O2 - oh my !! Posted by vtsnaab [Email] (#26) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vtsnaab) on Fri, 19 Oct 2018 16:39:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Seems likely that many states (all ??) have by now enacted the invasive OBD via internut + picture taking, etc baloney that we got here in VT.
(How long before they want the driver's fingerprints and/or retina scan as well ??)
Anyhow, since I just got a '97 to replace my '94 with (a bit later on) I need to get things right pre-inspection time.
Looking through dozens of older threads here today it appears that ABS as well as SRS are ignored by the OBDII readings - a great thing indeed !!
If that is exactly so, then I can easily do my accustomed neutering of both without worrying about an expensive fail.
(The SRS appears intact, but 21+ y/o face-aimed explosive devices are not to be trusted...and the ABS is having indigestion already - not needed IMO.)
No warning lights + no codes to scan = a happy day indeed.
My questions, please:
1.
Has anyone here done away with SRS before an OBDII inspection without problems ??
2.
Same query as #1 regarding ABS ??
3.
Regarding O2 sensors, which fail from time to time - is there a list of what works for cheaper replacements and/or can it be dummied up with just a resistor ??
Thanks for any helpful replies !!
