I checked the EPC (Electronic Parts Catalog) with the Part Numbers listed in the 288mm rotor from Ero parts and found that those P/N are for 1994-98 900 15" wheels, 1998-2010 9-5 15" wheels and 1998-2003 9-3 wheels.

Checked your year and model rotos P/N 4002143 (280mm rotor), is listed for some 1985-89 9000 and all 1990-98 9000 and no other models.

Checked your year and model caliper P/N 4543765 (LH) and 4543773 (RH), they're listed for 1990-98 all model 9000.

What I would do is take off the front wheel and check accurately how much clearance is there between the end of rotor and inside the caliper. You said you know you have a 280mm (which is the correct size IAW with the EPC). Is there enough clearance to install the 288mm without rubbing the caliper?

My question to you is, why try to install a bigger rotor (not by much) with the same size brake pads? I would brake the same either way. Is it worth it? Just a question.

I have the 280mm slotted rotors installed and very happy with them. Had the cross drilled and did not like them because of the noise they made. I switched to the slotted type. Also, installed the EBC Yellow Stuff pads. After installing them I said "Wow". A big difference in stopping the car. 1992 9000 2.3T

Hope this help you decide what you need.
