I installed a set of e-codes years ago.
After several years I began having issues with occasional flickering of the low beams. After several rounds of bulb replacements I discovered that the
wire and press on connectors on the back of the bulbs were overheating and the wire was failing. The wire appears to be far from a heavy enough gauge for the current. I rewired with heavier wire and terminals and all has been ok since. These were not obviously poor grade light units.
