FA4300 to FA4320 auto trans conversion possible? Posted by striictly sweedish [Email] (#2026) [Profile/Gallery] (more from striictly sweedish) on Wed, 18 Sep 2019 05:12:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am looking to replace an ailing automatic transmission in my 1996 CSE and have found a rebuilt unit from a 2.0 litre CS in the UK (I am in Montreal). The CS has a FA4300x box, 2.3 litre models (CSE, Aero) have a more robust FA4320x unit to handle the additional torque.
I am trying to find out whether or not you can upgrade a FA4300x unit to FA4320x spec’s.
The differences I am aware of (don’t take this as Gospel) from people who have gone before are the following:
- the valve body;
- the planetary gear set;
- the pinion shaft;
Has anybody explored or done this upgrade?
Thanks!
Glen in Montreal
