'94 Aero autobox dropping out of fourth Posted by un4gvn1 [Email] (#2498) [Profile/Gallery] (more from un4gvn1) on Thu, 12 Nov 2020 20:56:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Driving home from the in-laws (mountain highway) and with ~25 miles left in the 150 mile drive a new quirk appeared.
Driving along, minding our own business, suddenly shifts into third, hard, then almost immediately back into fourth. Disengaged the cruise, any pressure on the throttle would induce a down-shift. Turned cruise off (on the theory the CC module uses a different set of shift criteria than TCU by itself) no change.
Long story longer, drove about 10 miles in third (shifter in third) and tried "drive" again. Worked correctly for a few miles, then started downshifting again.
Shifted back into third for the rest of the drive home.
So, the question for the hive-mind is "governor seals"?
If not, what else?
