Ok…I finally figured it out. The trick is to get a 1.25 internal retaining ring and put it on the bottom side between the seal and the aluminum piston. Then take a socket that fits inside the piston from the top but is large enough that it sits on the retaining ring. Couple of taps and it came apart. Once the piston is out, you can use the retaining ring to pound out the seal, just support the piston on a slightly larger diameter. It’s in there pretty good.
