This may be too late to help you, but I had the same thing going on last summer.
Original A/C compressor seized a few years ago - I couldn't find any new UAC compressors by then - got one claimed to be "new" from an ebay seller - it was junk, wouldn't even hold a vacuum (got a refund). My mechanic swapped in a junkyard one which worked well for a few years then started leaking from the shaft seal as you are seeing.
No junkyard compressors to be found this time, and my trusted mechanic of the last 30 years just retired... left to my own devices, I was able to buy a replacement shaft seal from an a/c shop - this was ebay again but they seemed reputable and had their own web presence besides (they also had a youtube video covering this replacement). The description was "SANDEN A/C COMPRESSOR SHAFT SEAL 7H/709 5H/508 ONE PIECE SEAL KT w/INSTALL TOOL". So this did involve taking the compressor apart to replace the seal, but after reassembling, pulling a vacuum and recharging - it's been working fine ever since.
