So the gears are nylon or plastic inside of the case that the motor goes into. I like to leave the motor and the wires hooked up to find out which gear is bad. So just push the switch and listen for the motor that moves but the seat doesn't and then you know you need to take that motor off and then remove the plate and the gear will be inside it in pieces make sure you remove all of the Grease and get all of the parts of the gear removed before you put the new Gear with grease back in otherwise you'll break another gear. Not too terribly difficult but there's you a little bit more information I hope that helps.
