I have a relatively low (108k) mileage 1996 CSE with an automatic transmission whine. After looking for 18 months I found a NOS transmission for a V6 which Nat Wentworth of Eriksson converted for my 2.3l.
I am wondering, what in the way of related preemptive maintenance - apart from changing the rear main seal - should I consider at the same time?
I understand the source of the whine could be a damaged pump due to arcing because of a faulty ground - is there a ground strap (missing from my car as far as I can tell) I should install on the new transmission?
Funny thing, having gone to all this trouble and expense, the car has always shifted perfectly, the whine may be normal and could be I was just looking for something to fixate on..
