Hello,
I guess that is one more reason to not go that direction in car buying. Anyone I know that has driven those Tesla's really loves the drive but Tesla really doesn't want anyone working on there cars but them. And they have had some quality issues like those. Being that I work on cars as a profession I am happy my daily working career should be at the most 12 more years. I have no desire to work on electric cars.
When I was at a dealership and they were sending gm guys to hybrid school they told them to were 100% cotton clothing so if they got electricuted there clothing wouldn't become one with there skin. And when they worked on a car the safety precautions included putting cones around the car and putting a large plastic hook on a wooden handle there to pull them off the car. These may have changed I don't know and don't want to know.
It's is one of the reason I went were I did when new Saab's were no longer being made. I work been able to work on alot of different cars and have really expanded my knowledge of old fuel injection systems and carbs. As well as lots of work on Porsche's and Ferrari's which people keep going and revive when they spend too long parked in there garage at home. I have worked on cars as old as 1919. If I could work on just Saab's I would choose that but the supply is ever shrinking. Good Luck, Bernie
