when it happened to me (fiberglass out the exhaust). You probably had it coming out before you knew it. A nice person told me at a traffic light: "Hey, your car's got a furry tail." :-) In other words, it had no effect on my car's performance. Sounds to me like a boost hose either blew off or has a hole in it. Maybe the intercooler blew a plastic end tank. Whatever the case, something like these will definitely cause the problem you mentioned.
