I noted that when central clocking does not operate, only driver door opens because I used the key in the lock cylinder, upon opening the driver door the alarm activates, making car immobile. Researching "fixes" (work arounds actually), suggestions included entirely disabling the alarm system by finding a metal box in the passenger foot well, disconnecting it, and then implement three jump wires (fuel pump, fuel injectors, and pathway to starter motor perhaps?). Practitioners of this method note that its an annoying approach.
All I wanted to do is disable the alarm so that it doesn't immobilize the car. My approach was to deny the alarm system knowledge that the driver door has been opened. The switch on the front door frame that activates the dome lights is not the sensor used by the alarm system. Instead, there is a small blue magnetic switch inside the door frame near the latch. It has a 2-pronge black plug, from the car two wires, one red, one black, and from the switch, two black wires. Disconnect that, and you'll see that with ignition in "on" position, when the driver door is open, there is no indication of such on the pictogram. So, alarm system does not sense the open door, and thus no alarm.
I my aero's case the ultimate problem is the micro-switch mounted to the key lock cylinder, that informs both central locking and the alarm system, its intermittent. When central locking doesn't work, means micro-switch isn't functioning, so alarm doesn't know key was used to open door, alarm activates when it senses door is open.
With this work around, I get central locking most of the time (micro-switch usually works), but never get stranded when it doesn't, AND I can lock my car.
I think the alarm is still functional with regard to the other three doors and hatch.
