Coolant Gushing out of throttle body housing.

Saturday, I replaced the thermostat in my 91 9000 T. When I detached the small diameter rubber vacuum hose that attaches to the top of the throttle body housing (this is the highest vaccum hose in the engine), just above where the throttle plate rests in the housing, coolant poured out of the hole in the throttle body housing.
This hose connects to a copper tube contained within a large rubber hose which starts on the top of the bellows near the air intake in front of the turbo, runs up near the DI Cassette and branches off into two parts, with one part running to the top of the crankcase, and the other connecting to this small diameter hose going to the top of the throttle body housing. This larger hose fits around a metal tube which runs from the bellows near the turbo (next to what I think in the AMM) and goes up to provide the connection for the hose running to the top of the throttle body.
I am sure of two things. First this description is confusining, and second, that anyone who has messed around with this hose will know exaclty what I am talking about.
Also, the large rubber hose that surrounds the metal tube broke apart in my hands. I couldn't find a replacement anywhere but the dealer and this 3 foot piece of rubber hose set me back $100. What a rip off.
Anyway, aside from wondering how $1 worth of rubber can be sold for $100 without violating some consumer fraud act, I am wondering if I should be worried about coolant gushing out of the top of the throttle housing.
