Source for engine vibration finally found...timing chain

It's the timing chain and maybe the balance shaft chain. I checked the tensioner and it was well past the 11 mm limit. Tomorrow I'll get the parts and do the job on saturday.
I will get a new timing chain, 3 guides, drive sprocket, crank seal, timing cover gasket, valve cover gasket and oil pump gasket. I will also get the balance shaft chain and guides since I've had the vibration problem. I have read the procedure on the haynes manual. Are there any difficult steps, like removing crank shaft pulley, or tricks in this job ?
What made it hard to believe that the job is necessary is that the cylinder head, valves, hydraulic lifters, all sprockets, chains, guides and seals have been changed 100kkm ago. But...since the tensioner is at the limit I guess it's neglected oil change and hard driving on the autobahn by the previous owner.
