I second ACP's note. I just replaced my mast on my 93 9K 150KM due to the nylon toothed rope which is pushed and pulled by a matching toothed motor driven gearhead. You should have a good set of screwdrivers for straight and Philips, an adjustable wrench big enough to loosen the black nut on top of the fender/ant. and others to properly remove fasteners holding stuff like the back hatch sill plate on my 5 door, and the trim fasteners holding the inner wall tight. Don't force, things are removeable. Remove the bottom bolt anchoring the lower part of the power unit, unplug the the power connector (it will release easily when the locking ears are eased out, pull the Motorola connector (antenna coax cable into the top of the stationary mast) from the top of the big tube after you have loosened and removed the top black nut and collar on the fender top. If you aren't a good SO THATS HOW THE DID THAT type and need more guidence write or call me. I am on Illinois tune and will check this bb later b4 I pass out for the nigth. Good luck, I'm off to watch my 8th grade daughter do her cheerleader thing. Oh yeah, to load the new mast is easy with someone to help with the motor connector so it goes through retraction phase loading the rope and mast.
